The pizza I was served was most certainly cooked by an amateur. Wood ovens are not for amateurs, and it causes me to wonder how seriously Gaslight takes their pizza program.
Amateur move number 1) My pizza Margherita arrived with enough sauce and cheese to choke three hungry alligators. The heavy blanket of cheese slid right off the slice when I picked it up. That's due in part to its abundance, too much sauce, and in part to the floppy undercarriage (bottom crust). It was a cheese pizza, not a Margherita. The whole point of a Margherita is the sparsely applied cheese, and if there was basil, I couldn't find it.
Amateur move number 2) Half my pizza was cooked, the other half was as pale as a computer geek who left his grandmother's basement for the first time in weeks. Whoever made my pizza didn't attend to it. The heat in wood ovens is very uneven, especially near the fire, and the pie needs to be moved around to cook it properly. This is not a big secret.
Amateur move number 3) The deck of the oven obviously was far too cold. The bottom crust was mostly uncooked. It was flabby, gummy, and very pale. Whoever was in charge of the oven either didn't bother to make sure the deck was heated or had no clue how to do so.
Amateur move number 4) My pizza should never have been served. I can promise you, if I were in charge, that pizza would've been thrown out, remade, and cooked properly before it was sent to the customer.
Whoever is in charge at Gaslight is not doing their job. They've assigned someone to make the pizza who is either very inexperienced, doesn't understand how a wood-fired pizza should be cooked, doesn't give a damn, or a combination of all three.
I'm harsh because I care. If (and it's a big if) Gaslight sees their error and takes their pizza program seriously, they have the opportunity to put out fantastic pizza. Pizza that will be better than anything else in the area. Here's hoping that happens. And if it does, I'll be back, and will sing their praises. -

Great pizza! Nate was very friendly and helpful. I was impressed because it seems that many places employ people that aren't that way. Friendly owners. Clean place. I HATE eating outside, but I loved it here! See the photo for the view. Definitely worth it!

When looking for restaurants to eat on vacation, I came across gaslight which had high reviews. I should've read them a bit more. Service was a bit awkward and slow. We ordered the corn soup and 2 pizzas (margherita and prosciutto). The soups took forever to come out and the pizzas came out about 5 mins after the soup. I was still working on the soup. The soup was very bland. I added more salt and pepper but didn't really make a difference. The pizza was okay. Not terrible but I've had better too. The prosciutto one was better than margherita. It was just a little salty. There was way too much mozzarella on the margherita pizza so I was overstuffed. The blistered tomatoes though were tasty. The overall pizza crust was good too and had a nice char from the oven.
